Bubbles and baby feet

It may not be completely obvious from these underside photos, but he has his dad's gangly toes.

Happy Easter

Yeah, so I don't actually celebrate Easter myself, but I'm finding myself with a couple pics suited for the day:

First, are the beautiful cupcakes at Kickass Cupcakes in Davis Square:

Then there's Zach with the bunny ears that showed up in the mail last week from his cousin, Sydney:

(Sydney is 7, and came to visit and help babysit a few days later:

Tulip

Thinking of spring...which starts in a few days, technically...I'm not putting the shovels away yet though.

Making Faces

No, I don't intend to turn this into a baby blog, but it's been a month and I've barely left the house (it's the time of year when it doesn't really pay to go out anyway), and have about 800 baby pictures. Any suggestions for dumb captions?

February 10, 2008

The view from the 5th floor labor & delivery room at Mount Auburn Hospital just after 7 am on 2/10:

It seems a bit funny in retrospect that I was taking pictures out the window at that point, since Zach was born at 12:50 pm. I also had time for one of the hospital's fabulous breakfast sandwiches before things got messy.

The new addition

In case you didn't get the update from Josh last week, baby Zach is out and doing great. Seeing his face and feeling the excess of baby-soft skin on his tiny back for the first time was pretty surreal. And now, 11 days later he already looks different than at birth. Other than the lack of sleep (the fist night home from the hospital when he fed for 9 hours straight, starting at 10 pm, was especially fun), we're doing well, and I've finally found a few minutes to post a couple pics:

Snow

This post is a bit untimely, since it's now about 50 degrees outside and all traces of snow were washed away by a crazy rainstorm last night. But, I'm feeling a bit negligent (of both of the camera and the blog) and wanted to make an appearance.

The snow was a couple weeks ago, and this is the odd statue left for us by former owners of our house on the odd platform that we think was built to cover a giant boulder in our wacky back yard.

Boat, new years (and some pregnancy griping)

Despite finally taking the plunge to purchase the expensive digital SLR camera I've been drooling over for the last year or 2 (I ended up with a Nikon D40x, if you care) - over a month ago - I haven't been taking a lot of pictures, or doing much else for that matter.

Trimester 3 of pregnancy so far has me spending most of my non-working hours moaning on the couch (till I fall asleep at around 10) - either that my back hurts (a maternity belt has helped with that some), my bra is too small (though I just discovered extenders, available at sewing stores for all of $1.59 - why is this not a more well-known tip?), that cat is stepping uncomfortably on my belly (a shove is the best bet there), or that my skin is too tight (giving up food seems the best solution to that one, but that just doesn't really work) or whatever... Or spending my available energy laundering the 3 pairs of pants that fit me at present. Pregnancy rocks.

Well, we did manage to get outside briefly the other day for a walk around Newburyport, and a picture of this boat reflection.

Happy New Year! A healthy and happy 2008 to all.

Overstuffed car

I've been in-between hibernation, holidays and an attempt to clear out a room upstairs to become a nursery (speaking of which, anyone want a free tv? from 1985ish and has a nifty row of buttons down the front). In addition to seeing family and eating turkey over Thanksgiving, we were given just about every baby item that hasn't yet been deemed unsafe by the FDA from Josh's sister, Jennifer. My poor car was just a bit loaded down, but despite a day of drizzle, the packing was superb and all stayed dry and attached.
