Zacky No-Neck

We're beginning to think our son has no neck. I mean, we see it on occasion - like when we bathe him - or, more specifically, we go trolling for lint reserves. So we've given him this mafia nickname. It goes along with his gang, Lilia "the Head" (she has a kinda large noggin - but no worries, she'll grow into it), and Ryan "the Butcher" (no reason - but doesn't it make him sound threatening?).


As for the brace - don't ask why, but Josh thought he needed to wear this thing last week, and this photo op was just too irresistible. (Josh didn't end up needing it himself - we had it on hand from January when he pulled a disk. I remember the date well, because I was 8-months pregnant, the trip to the emergency was at 2 am and it was the night before my baby shower, so we had family in town).

With a scattering of people, adults mostly, last weekend near Lincoln, NH. Justin and Ryan braved the adventure with baby bjorn, while Lilia and Zach snoozed under cover of mosquito nets back on the bank.

Jurassic plants

Ok, so after typing in Jurassic, I felt compelled to look it up. According to Wikipedia, in fact "Ferns first appear in the fossil record in the early-Carboniferous period." But whatever. They were growing outside the window from where we were staying in NH last weekend and the light on them caught my eye.

And, if it isn't obvious, these pictures are not of babies.

First Father's Day

First "swim"

From left to right, Zach, (Saru), Ryan, Xander, (Koos), and Josie take a pass at going in the kiddie pool at Jen and Jordi's barbecue last weekend. Couple babies missing, but it's still a posse.

Ryan took it like a man; Zach and Xander were crybabies (or maybe just a bit chilly). The lower picture cracks me up, I'm not sure why; perhaps because they look like a crew of mini retirees?

Likeness?

One of these pictures is of Josh, one of me. I'll give you a hint - I was bald till I hit about 3, and had blond hair as a baby. (photo credit: our fathers, presumably) Who does Zach look like? Anyone who's seen me as a baby (my parents and sister, basically) think he looks just like me. Everyone else thinks he looks just like Josh.
